Wholesale Beeswax Candles
Who we are
Beeswax Works Wholesale supplies pure Canadian beeswax candles, made by hand in Revelstoke, BC, to independent retail stockists across Canada. Our range covers hand-dipped tapers, hand-poured pillars, tea lights and votives, decorated candles, and seasonal candles. Founded in 1994; in Revelstoke since 2023.
For shops that sell candles
You run a shop. Your customers pick up a candle because it looks right, smells like nothing added, and burns the way you said it would. That is the product we make for you.
We supply boutiques, gift shops, spas, accommodation, restaurants, wellness shops, refill shops, and event suppliers — independent retailers selling in their own stores. If that is you, you are who this store is for.
What we make
Three handmade families, plus two more:
- Hand-dipped tapers. Built by dipping a wick over and over, letting each layer cool. Slow work, never improved on for the taper we want to make.
- Hand-poured pillars. Poured by hand in our Revelstoke studio.
- Tea lights and votives. Set by hand, packed by hand.
- Decorated candles and seasonal candles. Same wax, same method, made for display and for the season.
- Beeswax blocks (1 lb and 1.5 oz). Available to approved wholesale accounts.
We make to order rather than to a warehouse. Our year has a shape: quiet through spring, busy from August, flat out by November. If you are stocking for the fourth quarter, order early — your candles are poured recently, by hand, by us.
Where the wax comes from
Our beeswax comes from Canadian beekeepers, mostly across Alberta and British Columbia, and never from an out-of-country substitute. It is mostly cappings wax — the seal bees build over full honey cells, collected during honey extraction, then rendered down. That is why our candles are gold without anything being added.
Our primary supplier is Poelman Apiaries in Fort Macleod, Alberta: family owned and operated, more than thirty years in the business, filtering and refining their wax. Owner Ron Glave has kept bees commercially since 2013 and founded BeeKind Honey Bees in 2019. We buy from people we know, and we know what we are looking at.
The colour is the wax's own, running from deep honey to pale gold depending on the season and the forage available to the bees. A small shift in the gold is the honest signature of a natural product. Over time a pure beeswax candle may develop a soft, pale film — bloom, the wax's natural patina. It is a mark of pure beeswax rather than a fault, and the candle burns exactly the same.
Why stock beeswax
Consistency and support, not promises:
- Consistent sizing. The same product, the same size, order to order.
- Handmade batch quality. Small batches, made by us, checked by us.
- Reliable reorders. Approved accounts reorder fast through Quick Order.
- Burn times as estimates. Each product page carries an estimate for its shape and size. Four habits make the difference for your customers: a long first burn, a wick trimmed to about a quarter inch before every light, kept out of the draft, and never left unattended.
What we offer is a candle made properly, from wax we stand behind, by people you can name.
Heritage: three owners, one method
Beeswax Works was founded in 1994 by Richard, who hand-dipped tapers and hand-poured pillars on the west coast of British Columbia. Jill carried it from 2012, learning the old skills from Richard himself, and grew it over a decade from Salt Spring Island to Ladysmith.
Ron took the business on in July 2023 and brought it over the mountains to Revelstoke. He had met Jill in 2021 through a wholesale order, kept bees, and wanted to learn wax. Three owners have each changed where the candles are made. Not one of us has changed how, or why.
Stockist support
