Everyday Light

The short answer: beeswax candles that get used get bought again. Stock the everyday shapes (taper pairs, pillars in a few heights, tea lights and votives), show them the way customers will use them, and add seasonal designs to bring people back to the shelf.

Most candles get bought for an occasion and saved in a cupboard. Ours are made to be used: a dinner on a Tuesday, a shelf in February, a book at the end of a long day, a gift that gets lit instead of kept. For your shop, that matters. A candle that gets used is a candle that gets bought again.

Each one is the same simple product: pure Canadian beeswax and a cotton wick, made in Canada, hand-dipped or hand-poured in Revelstoke, BC.

Why do everyday candles earn their shelf space?

  • They're bought again. A taper pair burned through a few weeks of dinners needs replacing. Everyday shapes are the ones customers come back for, and the ones you reorder.
  • They sell on hours, not hype. Every product carries an estimated burn time, so customers can see what they're getting.
  • They suit any room. Beeswax ranges from deep honey to pale gold. It sits easily beside home decor, gifts, kitchenware and books.
  • They look good unlit. Grouped on a shelf or windowsill, pillars and tapers read as objects before they're ever lit, which makes them easy to merchandise all year.

How do customers use beeswax candles every day?

Everyday dinners

A taper pair turns a weeknight meal into something slightly better. Our hand-dipped taper pairs come in four heights; the 8-inch pair gives approximately 8 hours per candle.
Stock: taper pairs in two or three heights, displayed in a candlestick so customers can see the finished look.

Gatherings and celebrations

Grouped pillars anchor a table for a whole evening and carry through a season of meals. A Flat Top Three Inch Pillar runs approximately 35–45 hours, the Five Inch approximately 45+, and the Seven Inch approximately 55+.
Stock: one shape in three heights, displayed as a group, so customers can picture the set on their own table.

Home decor, lit or unlit

Matte and warm gold, beeswax works as decor on a mantel, shelf or windowsill. The Hex pillars carry a pressed honeycomb pattern; the Simple Fern and Rustic Fern pillars carry a botanical relief and run approximately 50+ hours.
Stock: a few decorated pillars at eye level, grouped in odd numbers.

Quiet everyday rituals

A single votive beside a bath, a book or a morning coffee. Votive Candle Singles run approximately 10–12 hours each; tea lights approximately 4–5 hours.
Stock: votive singles near the till as an easy add-on, and boxed tea lights and votives on the shelf.

Gifts and seasonal moments

Our decorated and seasonal designs rotate through the year: hearts for February, the Carved Faberge Egg for spring, the Chubby Pumpkin for fall, and the Spruce Tree, Three Pines and Victorian Santa for the holidays. They bring customers back to the shelf to see what's new, while the everyday shapes keep selling in between.
Stock: a small seasonal feature beside your everyday candles, so a seasonal shopper discovers the everyday range too.

When the power goes out

A practical reason to keep candles in the house. Beeswax needs nothing but a match and stores for years. A box of tea lights spreads light through several rooms; a large pillar gives long hours in the room you're sitting in.
Stock: boxed tea lights and votives, with a simple shelf card on safe holders. The usual sense applies: a stable, heat-safe holder, flames clear of anything that can catch, never left unattended, and put out before sleep.

What does a well-stocked everyday shelf look like?

  • Tea lights or votives for spreading light through the house, everyday use and outages.
  • One or two pillar shapes in a few heights for long hours in the main room.
  • Taper pairs for the table, shown in a candlestick.
  • A few decorated or seasonal designs for gifting and something new to look at.
  • Our branded matchbooks beside the candles. They're free: just add them to your order.

How can customers get the most from every candle?

A customer whose candle burns well comes back. Four habits make the difference, and they're worth repeating at the till:

  • Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before every burn.
  • Give the first burn time, so the melted wax reaches the edges.
  • Keep candles out of drafts, away from fans and open windows.
  • Store them cool and out of direct sun.
